Caesar told Billboard:

"The phrase has a double meaning. Usually in church, when the congregation is overcome by the Holy Spirit for a moment, the people will interrupt the sermon to yell their praises, and dance for joy. I think the idea of a break from praise has taken on a more literal meaning in my life today. I was raised in an intensely religious household and I think the influence shows through my music," he tells Billboard. "In [the] 11th grade, I was kicked out of a Christian private school. I got caught selling weed to the resident students. Simply put, my parents found out and told the school; that kind of started me on the path I'm on now. I ended up having to leave home to make the music I wanted to make, and to find myself. As cliche as that sounds; I like to think I'm getting closer." Read More...

Every now and then, we come across an exceptional artist with only a few likes on thier page and just a couple of followers on Twitter. Being the music hunters that we are, we listen to everything that is sent our way and are not easily swayed by boastful social media buffs, or artists with fake YouTube view counts.

We respect those who execute their craft with a passion that can not ony be seen but heard. Those who strive to accentuate thier individuality and not just follow any particular wave.

Meet Daniel Caesar. This 18 year-old singer/songwriter (originally from Whitby, ON) currently based in Toronto's Kensington Market is going to be the next big thing, and we are sure of it

His recent proect "Praise Break EP" is loaded with stripped down acoustics and heavy-hearted chords combined with solid harmonies resulting in a strong Gospel feel. That being said, there is an element of Soul and R&B that can be heard throughout the project- notably in Daniel's single "Violet".

The whole EP flows so damn beautifully it takes us back to hearing Channel Orange for the first time. Do you remember?

You can tell this kid has got a strong team behind him that fully understands his musical direction and future goals. To put it simply, this project is not only cohesive and consistent but dope as fuck.
